But, why? The purpose of training is to improve your performance in competition. If you fool yourself into thinking you can win a marathon by fudging on training, you're only going to end up cramping on the side of the road after five miles on game day.

Perhaps you're right. It seems the statement may be interpreted either as a report of a bug, or as a behavior to be exploited. Since the subject title explicity says "exploit," I assumed the latter.
