There has been a functionality of the chess board that has caused me to accidentally make moves that I did not want to make and lead to me losing the game or losing my advantage.
The pieces can be moved in two ways, at all times: by clicking and dragging the piece to the destination square or by clicking the piece and clicking on the destination square. Drag-moving is the only one I have always used but click-moving is always active and, if you are not careful, you can make mistakes.
There are different ways in which you can make a mistake. You can select a piece and drag it without letting it go, then change your mind and put it back. This way, the piece remains selected and if you accidentally click on a viable square, the piece moves there without your intention to make a move. You can accidentally click the square next to the piece when you try to select it or you can click on an opponent piece and your piece will take it. The point is that, when your piece is selected, you need to be careful.
An other way that you can make a mistake, which has happened to me a few times, is if you make a premove, then click on the piece to cancel the premove. The piece remains selected and if you make a missclick somewhere, you can make an unwanted move.
I think that there is an overlap between the drag-moving functionality and click-moving functionality that can sometimes cause problems.
If there was a setting to control which of these you want enabled, that would be very useful.
