Puzzle 39284

lichess.org/training/39284

Why would rg2+, forcing K to back rank be a loser? keep the tempo and narrowing k options. either way, it is a clear win having made the critical move, Qa8. to fail the position for rg2+ is ridiculous especially when considering some of the 'good move but try again' that happen in far more tricky positions. )@*#$)(*@#$

so, anyone up for explaining why I deserve the tactical fail for rg2+, I am all eyes...though the red mist has descended.
Rg2+ prolongs the mate from M7 to M9.

Your line: 1... Rg2+ 2. Qd2 Rxd2 ...etc. (eventually Qa8 is played, but in the correct line it is played FIRST, to activate it immediately)

Correct line: 1...Qa8 2.Qxc4 Qa1+ 3. Kb3 Rb1+ 4. Kc2 Rb2+ 5. Kd3 Qf1+6. Ke3 Qf2+ 7. Kd3 Rd2#
Oh, and you might be wondering why Qd2 is played. Simply, a mate distractor & prolonger. For example, a check might be played to the opposing king and the check does nothing to prevent, mate, its a prolonger.
I also don't understand this puzzle :(
Too many possible moves. Line with Rxh6+... prolong mate or 1. ... Rg2+ 2. Qd2 Qa8 (not 2. ... Rxd2)...
In any case, Rg2+ is good move in my opinion. This move should not be considered a mistake.

For example, here's a very good and correct puzzles (beware, they have a rating 2100+):

Okay, I am often not clear, my apologies. I said the theme move is Qa8, the first move. 1...Qa8 2.Qxc4 Rg2+ Why is that check a failure? I keep the tempo and back rank the king. If it is not the preferred line, then why not present good move but better--the game is over. it seems to me at that point it more a technique difference than those that decide how to proceed. I am failing numerous problems for reasons I disagree--one move too slow. Puzzle 20232. The move, imo, to understand or see is Qf4. Black sacs and then it technique. I failed that because my technique was one move too slow. heck, it is not like white is in danger. Thank you. I enjoy the opportunity to do the training, so a big Thank You to lichess.org.
to keep the point, lichess.org/training/38554. I failed and yet the preferred line has numerous good move but better opportunities. I failed with 1. Qf7+. I do not agree that should be a fail. 1...Kh7 2. Rd7. In the preferred line Black sacs the queen. If black does not defend g7, mate g7. if either rook defends at g8, then Qh5mate. It seems to me the theme is to recognize both the black queen has no relevant tempo to gain, and forcing the black k to h presents two options to mate depending how black tries to defend. I failed, yet again.
